 About

Our Goal

Let There Be Rock School - El Paso is committed to providing the community with excelent lessons for everyone.  Music is such an integral part of our society, and it's something we take very seriously. Our programs are designed to give people of all ages the opportunity to develop their skills and grow to their maximum potential, and to give them the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of a live audience.

The Future Sounds Good

El Paso has produced some amazing bands and amazing musicians throughout our history. Unfortunately, it's a city that often gets overlooked when it comes to the arts.  A lot more bands have started to travel to the sun city because of the love and passion El Pasoans have for live Rock & Roll. We are looking to be instrumental in creating a great local scene that will not only make our city great locally; it will place us on the musical map nationally and internationally!

Pepe Clarke Magaña
Director

Pepe Clarke Magaña is a musician and teacher from Juarez, Mexico. He is the drummer for the heavy rock band KYNG. In 1998, Pepe moved to Los Angeles, CA to pursue a musical education at Musicians Institute, and later to Boston, MA to attend Berklee College Of Music. In 2002, he moved back to LA to begin his career in music. As a gigging drummer he played with various artists ranging from gospel and pop, to hardcore and heavy metal. In 2004, he joined the latin metal band Ankla, which would be the beginning of his touring career. Ankla toured extensively from 2006 to 2010, including Ozzfest '07 where they shared the stage with such acts as Behemoth, Nile, Hatebreed, DevilDriver, and, of course, the great Ozzy Osbourne. This tour opened the door for him to, in 2009, do a European tour with the metal band Dååth. In 2010, Clarke joined the hardcore band Strife and toured with them throughout Europe, South America, and Japan. During a touring hiatus in 2009, Eddie Veliz, Tony Castañeda, and Pepe got together at a rehearsal studio in Hollywood, CA, and KYNG was born. After a year or so of writing, they had the opportunity to showcase their songs for Sirius XM radio programmer, DJ, and long time friend Jose Mangin. Mangin would play a major roll in getting KYNG in with the right people to start their career, and in 2011, they would sign to RealiD Records and release their debut album Trampled Sun. The long touring cycle would begin with a small run with The Sword and would continue well into 2013, opening for bands such as Clutch, Corrosion Of Conformity, Trivium, In Flames, and Black Stone Cherry, to name a few. In 2012 they filled in the main support slot with Megadeth during the 25th anniversary of their record Countdown To Extinction, as well as being asked to perform at Metallica's Orion Music Festival. In 2014, KYNG would release their sophomore album, Burn The Serum, through Razor & Tie Records. As was the case with Trampled Sun, this record brought along an extensive touring cycle. The opportunity to expand their audience came through touring with radio rock bands such as Seether, Chevelle, and Papa Roach, as well as playing in all the major US festivals such as Rock On The Range and Rocklahoma. The first KYNG European tour happened with a short UK run alongside the bands Planet Of Zeus and Lionize. Pepe Clarke Magaña and KYNG have been touring extensively in support of their 2016 release, Breathe In The Water.
